====================LIVING======================

IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE BEEN.”

-George Eliot-

Life can throw you a series of curve ball and road blocks, but the only way we can truly find out what we are made of, is how we continue on with our life. These road blocks, can make us give up on our dreams or make you work even harder toward them. GIVING UP WAS NOT AN OPTION FOR ME! I decide to digged my heels in, so to speak, and decide to run a race that only “I” could win. The race of believing in myself and honoring my DREAM.

My company, Julia Sherry Designs, LLC. is here to stay. Through out the years, I have change the concept and the general designs, but my LOVE  for designing has always remain the same. It wasn’t until recently, when I help a friend with her wedding, that I found my true passion! I LOVE WEDDINGS! I romance, fantasy and the elegance of a wedding. I had so much fun helping her plan her “special day” and she also had me design her wedding garter and toss garter.  So, I guess you can say that “her special day became my passion”.

So, now I am branching out into doing more bridal accessories for wedding. I am still going to designing clutches, along with custom designs bags for any bride who desire a certain “look” for her wedding. But, I have also introduce a line of wedding garters that deput in July 2012. So stay tune! More new designs and style will be following.

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY AND DARE TO LIVE YOUR DREAM! Sherry

“Tis the Season to be Partying”

Well, today is Black Friday! The biggest shopping day of the year and holiday sales are everywhere, but I am not thinking about the stores.

I am thinking about the holiday’s parties! I was remembering that Christmas 2010 was a great year for me, because of my party hopping.  I went to EIGHT holiday parties between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Talking about trying to make sure that I have enough dresses, shoes and clutches  for each party was daunting, but this year, I am ready! I decided back in October that I need to have at least 10 new clutches to make it through this season, so of course, you must have a red clutch.  Check out “Charlotte”! A lovely red dupioni silk clutch with ruffles lined in pink dupioni silk.  Are you ready for the holidays? Stop my websites and have a look at what I am sewing for this holiday season.

Introducing “Marisa”

I’m back! Wow! I can’t believe how it has been since my post. Well, my body had let me down for a moment and I came down with a illness. It was curable, but it was just going to take some time to get back to my normal, bubbly self. So, the doctors did their magic and my health is back to normal. Thanks you so much Dr. Trousdale!

So, now my sewing passion is 100 times more intense that it was before I got sick.  While I was sick, I did a lot of sketching out new designs for clutches and this is how “Marisa” was created. Stay tune! I have so many new designs that will be posting in the days to come!

“Just throw it in the Bag”…….

The name of the bag is “Whitney” and she was made out of a great need for one big event, a wedding.  I didn’t realize that guests at invited to these events still bring money as a gift. I am so use to going to a bridal registry with a store, such as Williams Sonoma, Crate and Barrel or Tiffany’s.  So, when I was asked by a good friend who was getting married to collect the “gifts” (cash money or gift carts) during her special day, I thought no big deal, until the night before. Talking to her the night before her wedding she inform me that a lot of her gifts hadn’t been pick up off her registry, so she was expecting a lot of money.

So, when I got off the phone with her, I broke out into a sweat!  I had a small cute clutch for my dress, not a large one.  Thank God I can sew, because at 2am in the morning is a crazy time to try to find a purse to match a dress for a wedding with a start time of 2pm. Well, the ceremony goes off perfect and I get to the reception and everything is so peaceful. No one is giving me money, only two guests. So I get relax and start partying, then things just go WILD! Once, dinner was served and the bride starting dancing, I got jump on. Most of her guests did decide to give her cash, and once they were told that I was the person to give the “gifts” to, my job was number one. I just sat at the gift table all nite long and collected her presents. My poor bag got so stuff, that I couldn’t put one more envelope inside. It was even hard to get a bathroom break.Well, at least the in the end, it was my pleasure to take care of her during this special day. Check out “Whitney” at www.juliasherrydesigns.etsy.com.

So, what about cyber Monday?

Well, this is suppose to be one of the biggest shopping days of the year for the web and I was wondering if everyone did what I did?  Yes, I hit the web for great deals and free shipping, but not for great prices on TV’s and Wii’s, no I went shopping for FABRIC!! I must say that I found a lot of pretty good deals for deep discounts on fabric and free shipping was everywhere. So, I must admit, my shopping experience today was fun. Just a bit of interesting info, Joann’s fabrics website crashed last Friday because of all of the traffic. I guess that I wasn’t the only one looking for their fabric fix. Check out “Reese” at www.juliasherrydesigns.com.

Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate……

So, yesterday I went to my girlfriend’s, Evelyn, for Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner was lovely and filled with family and friends, because she is such a good cook.  The turkey was  very moist, not dry, and the dressing was fabulous, along with a slamming macaroni and cheese.  Well, of course, I stuff my stomach too much and so I had to take a break from the turkey and dressing to save room for dessert.  I waited about one hour and I was back at the food table ready for my sugar rush.  When I first arrived my eyes had caught a glimpse of this yummy German Chocolate cake and now I was ready for a taste.  The cake was moist with a rich chocolate  flavor and creamy caramel coconut icing that was mouth-watering.  Let me just tell you that the cake was well worth the wait.

I was walking back to my apartment from dinner and began thinking about some new designs that I wanted to start working on when I arrived home.   So, I arrive home and walk into the sewing room, I look at my sewing table and I see this clutch purse I just finished before dinner.  I stopped and just smile associating the chocolate purse with the chocolate cake.  I knew I should have taken a piece home with me!  Check out “Josette” and all of my latest designs at www.juliasherrydesigns.etsy.com.

The Cutest place for just a little change….

Delia - cute coin purse "Delia" coin purse lined in dupioni silk

Well, I was going out a couple of weeks ago and I was taking one of my clutch bag designs.  So, when I started packing my purse, I realize that I just didn’t want to put my money and credit cards in my bag  just loose. This is when I decided to put in my card holder for my credit cards, but what about my paper money and coins. Yes, people do still carry coins!  Well, this night I just let the money run loose in the clutch, but I promised myself that this would be the last time.  So, the next day when I got up, I when downtown, purchase this cute metal frame and my new pouch/coin purses were born. The purse is really not that big, but it is just big enough to get my credit cards, paper money and yes, my coins inside.  I tried to get my blackberry inside of the purse, but no go!  So, now I am back off to do some sewing and to do my other favorite hobby, cooking.  This time it is a Red Velvet Cake and it was past down to me from my great grandmother, Delia.  By the way, this is also the name of this coin purse.  You can check out all my designs at www.juliasherrydesigns.etsy.com. Enjoy!

The Black and White thing….

"Sophia"

"Sophia"

Well, I have always had this thing for the colors of black and white since I was little.  When I see the colors, always paired together, I just get this sense of a timeless couple.  So, when I am hunting for fabrics for my clutches, I just seem to just gravitate to the combination.  This is my lastest  design, “Sophia”, and she is a beauty. Talking about making a statement when you meet friends out for dinner. My “Sex in the City ” friends gave me rave compliements.  Black and white has trimuph again!

Just in time for Halloween,”Willow”

Willow

Well, I have been sewing my butt off as of lately getting ready for the Christmas season, but then I  realize that I still had a couple of fun holidays to go before Christmas, so why not just have a little fun.  So, last month, I found this fabric online while surfing the web.  I purchase the fabric and just left it sitting in the box, until I got caught up with my orders.  Well,  I finally found the free time to design this new clutch.  I think that the clutch has a great look for the Halloween season.  Just a little spooky and elegant, all at the same time.  I guess it has a quirky look to it, but I think that it works.  So, I salute the idea of being quirky yet elegant all together to make this great clutch.

So, now that Halloween has been conquer, I am now on the search for a great piece of fabric for Thanksgiving.  Well, I am off again to surf the web and head back into the sewing room!

Janet – Gorgeous Asian inspire clutch

Janet - clutch lined in bronze dupioni silkJanet - Gorgeous Asian inspire clutch lined in dupioni silk

I have come to realize that fabric shopping can be so much fun.  Every time I go out to buy some supplies to make a purse, I always see some new fabric print that catches my eye and I have to buy at least one yard of the print.   Well, case in point, I went looking for red dupioni silk and I saw this print and I could not walk out of the store without buying a yard.

So, I buy the fabric and I get home and my roommate asked can she take a look at the new fabric I purchase and she sees this print and goes “WILD” about it.  She keeps asking me everyday, for a week, when am I going to make a bag from it and I keep telling her that I need to finish my orders first before I can branch out and work on the new purses.  Finally, I got caught up with my orders and then I got a chance to make this new clutch.  I must admit that since I have made this purse, the fabric design looks even more gorgeous.

Anyone can check out my designs at www.juliasherrydesigns.etsy.com.  So, take a minute and have a glance and please feel free to leave me any comments.  By the way, this clutch purse is named after my roommate, Janet.
